Pickford wants Everton ‘legacy’ after signing new contract

Jordan Pickford has said he wants to leave a legacy at Everton after signing a new contract with the club.

Pickford has signed a new four-year contract with the Toffees, a contract that will cost him the last ten years at the club.

The 31-year-old joined Everton from Sunderland in 2017 and has since made 322 appearances for the Blues, winning the Player of the Season award four times.

During that time he has established himself as England’s number one. Pickford has won 80 caps for the Three Lions and played in four major tournaments.

Discussing his decision to renew at Everton, Pickford said he wants to ‘build a legacy’.

“I’m very happy,” he told Evertontv. “Glad to get it done – it’s an extra two years, so four years in total. I’m over the moon and it gives me the opportunity to build a legacy for myself here, move on and build this club to where we want to be.”

“Everton is a very special club for me. Because I came from Sunderland as a young boy and grew into a man here, it was a special time for me and my family.”

“I think everyone has seen the changes and how I have developed over time, but I am still that boy who likes to keep the ball out of the net. It has been Everton who have helped me develop and a lot of hard work has gone into it as well.”

“It always felt like a natural fit for me, with the fans and the passion – it’s second to none and something I thrive on.

“It’s been a mega journey so far.”
