Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers made a statement on Thanksgiving, beating the Detroit Lions with one of their most impressive performances of the season. The Love was once again sensational as he continues to deliver top performances week after week, staking his claim as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
The former first-round pick posted an overall PFF grade of 91.2, the highest among quarterbacks in Week 13. Love is now PFF’s third-highest graded quarterback of the season after playing two games in the last three weeks with an overall PFF grade above 90.0.

Love’s arm talent, a major reason he was drafted in Round 1, was on full display. He can make any throw from multiple platforms, and he showed that on Thanksgiving by firing off four big throws, tying his season-high in a single game.

Each of these plays requires a different type of throw, and Love continues to show he can make them all. The first throw requires touch. The Packers are just past the red zone and after the motion, Love knows he will have coverage and simply trusts his receiver to win. He drops the ball perfectly into the bucket.
The second and third throws showcase his arm strength in two different ways. The first is an attack while running, and the second travels almost 55 yards in the air to perfectly hit his receiver. Both require an elite level of arm strength that Love clearly has.
I really like this one from Jordan Love. Looks like 3-buzz and the slight pump fake/lookoff takes the safety in the middle of the field away from the passing force and rips the seam over the top of the down running safety pic.twitter.com/HAf3Cp5q7F

The above throw looks like a relatively “easy” throw down the seam, but it is only easy because of the way Jordan Love sets it up. The Lions defense shows a two-high pre-snap, but turns into Cover-3 Buzz, with the passing safety falling into a hook/curl roll and the linebacker buzzing to the flat.
In an instant, Love sees the safety on the other side getting deeper toward the middle of the field, and as soon as he confirms it’s Cover-3, he knows he wants the seam, but he has to beat that safety. He does a slight pump fake and looks to the side of the single receiver, freezing the safety just long enough for him to rip the seam throw over the top of the rotating defender without hesitation.
Fadeaway, hit while being thrown, Jordan Love still puts it in the only spot where his receiver can catch it to call the play pic.twitter.com/l8qLuuiyQR

The Lions play the second-highest percentage of man coverage in the NFL, so the Packers had a good idea of what they would see on fourth-and-3 with a chance to seal the win.
Pre-snap, Love does a good job of sliding the protection the right way, but ultimately it doesn’t help as the pressure comes from the other side. That pressure forces him to keep an eye on Dontayvion Wicks the entire time, and since he can’t get anywhere, he has to throw a fadeaway while hitting his arm. Yet he puts the ball in the only spot where his receiver can bring it down to win the game for Green Bay.
While the Packers’ season has had its ups and downs, they remain firmly in the mix for both the division and the No. 1 seed in the NFC, thanks in large part to Jordan Love. He has taken a clear step forward this season and is performing as one of the elite quarterbacks in the league.
For whatever reason, he isn’t mentioned in MVP conversations like other quarterbacks with similar records, but he continues to play at that level almost every week.
