Pimblett and Gaethje clashed in January in the headliner for UFC’s debut on Paramount+. While “The Baddy” was the favorite going into the fight, “The Highlight” proved that his dream of becoming an undisputed UFC champion is still alive. Gaethje battered Pimblett en route to a unanimous decision victory to capture the interim UFC Lightweight Championship.
A week removed from defeat, Pimblett took his YouTube channel to make fun of how disfigured his face looked a short time after the fight.
“The only thing that made me laugh was before the fight I said, ‘I want to make his face look different,’ and for a few days he made my face look different,” Pimblett said. “I had big standouts.”
Pimblett’s face has healed significantly and he gave a time frame for his next fight.
“That was at its worst,” Pimblett said. “I had big puffy eyes, but as you can see now it’s a week later. There’s nothing wrong with me. The only thing that bothers me is probably a scratched cornea or something like that. Tomorrow I’m going back to the gym. People think I have to take the rest of the year off. That’s not the case. I’m going to fight in the summer.”
Pimblett will look to get back on track after falling short in his bid for interim gold. Prior to the loss to Gaethje, “The Baddy” was on a nine-fight winning streak. Pimblett remains in the top five of the UFC lightweight rankings and believes he is still in the title hunt.
