Earlier tonight, Alexander Volkanovski raised his hand in front of his home crowd at UFC 325 and successfully defended his featherweight title for the first time in his second reign.
‘The Great’ again fought a well-calculated and technical fight and stayed out of Lopes’ shooting range in the title rematch. The champion continually circled and waited for Lopes to get aggressive so he could catch him off guard, and the game plan worked.
Although Lopes managed to drop ‘The Great’ once and even threatened him with a few submission attempts, it was Alexander Volkanovski who kept up the faster pace and consistent output throughout.
After 25 minutes, the 37-year-old cruised to a comfortable, unanimous decision victory.
‘The Great’ wants to face Movsar Evloev or Lerone Murphy next.

“Really dogs*, it’s a main event fight, nothing from either fighter. Volk just jabs and taps with low kicks on the back foot. If that was much closer than 50-45, I thought Lopes could have had a close round 2 and 4. Then he won round 3 because he literally dropped Volk #UFC325.”
