Our favorite Porsche show goes to Japan

  • Luftgekhühlt expands to Japan with its first event in Tokyo.

Luftgekhühlt has become fast the show for Porsche enthusiasts. The event, which started in Southern California more than a decade ago, has now hosted gatherings across the US and also ventured into Europe. But the show will take a big leap this year with the announcement of Luft Tokyo.

On Saturday, March 14, 2026, Luft will take over a currently closed section of the KK route in Tokyo. It is a highway that has been closed for redevelopment. The route runs through the heart of the Ginza district and should provide a visual feast when it is full of air-cooled Porsches.

Japan’s car scene is filled with legendary vehicles from all decades. Luft Tokyo will likely see some heavyweight players from Porsche’s past appear. After all, Japan is the place where you wouldn’t be shocked to see a street-legal Porsche 962 driving down the city street.

If you have a worthy car, registration opens on January 22. If you not If you have such a vehicle, you can buy a ticket at least from February 2. And if you’re like me, with nary a Porsche or a ticket to Japan in sight, we’ll just have to wait for the final awesome photos to arrive once the event ends.
