Norwich City duo Josh Sargent and Kenny McLean will both be assessed in the coming days, says Philippe Clement.
Norwich City continued their struggles in the 2025/26 season as they failed to beat Sheffield United on Tuesday night. NCFC may see it as a valuable point, but possibly at the expense of captain Kenny McLean and star striker Josh Sargent.
Clement joined the Canary Islands last month and has won just one match since his appointment. The last thing he would have wanted is to lose players as City sit 23rd in the Championship table and are already short of players – nine missed the Bramall Lane trip.
Sargent and McLean’s knocks picked up on Tuesday could see Norwich City’s injury list grow.
Speaking about the injuries after the match, Clement said no BBC Radio Norfolk: “Sarge took a hit, we have to assess how he’s doing. With Kenny, who had his hip locked in the first half, you could see it in the way he ran, it wasn’t his normal style.”
Josh Sargent’s importance to Norwich City
Losing Sargent is a huge blow for Norwich City and Clemens. Even if only in the short term, the American is so important for NCFC, not only because of his goals, but also because of his combination play and his experience.
Norwich City saw Jovon Makama move into his more natural role up top, with Amankwah Forson on the right. Because Mathias Kvistgaarden is also injured, Clement may have to adjust his front line.
Sargent’s goals have been a source of success for Norwich City for five seasons. The US international signed from Werder Bremen to join the Canaries in the Premier League, where he scored just twice.
Yet he has since found his way to Carrow Road, where he was a huge catalyst for them and consistently linked with Premier League clubs as arguably the best striker in the Championship.

Injuries worsen Norwich City’s dangerous position
Norwich City has had a season full of nightmares so far. Their injury record is terrible and we hope bad luck doesn’t strike again with injuries to Sargent and McLean.
They are 23rd in the Championship, which is well below where they would like to be.
NCFC finished 13th last season and had hoped to continue this season and secure a play-off place. However, from September to November 29, they failed to win a single match, dragging them straight to the bottom three.
Despite that horrendous run of results, City are still just three points inside the relegation zone. A run of results could get them out, but their injury record won’t help.
