With 15,000 new houses, eight schools and four city centers, this new suburb of Melbourne is enormous.
The Victorian government has the Beveridge North West Precinct Structure Plan (PSP)Who clears the road for a new suburb in Mitchell Shire, 40 km north of Melbourne.
According to the government, Mitchell Shire currently has an estimated population of 49,000, but it is expected that by 2041 balloons up to more than 170,000 people will thanks to the development in Beveridge North West and other coming floor plans in the area.

In particular in Beveridge North West, the area will be developed to 15,000 new houses, four city centers, eight schools and 79 hectares of green spaces.
A PSP is a long -term plan that outlines how land is being developed and where infrastructure is planned to support the growth of new communities.
According to the state government, this PSP will be supplied in phases, with 2400 houses that must first be built in 140 hectares with future phases that start once the Camerons Lane exchange is completed.
Once all the phases have been completed, Beveridge North West is the home of 47,000 Victorians. This would be one of the largest suburbs of the nation. Of the more than 15,000 suburbs in Australia, the largest population is in Point Cook, Victoria, with more than 66,000 inhabitants according to the last census. Port Macquarie, at number 10, has a population of just over 47,000.
To accommodate all these residents, Beveridge North West will have several hubs with community facilities, including shopping centers in the neighborhood, community shubs and a network of bicycle and pedestrian connections.
“This new suburb will be the home of around 47,000 Victorians – because we have unlocked the country for thousands of new houses and schools, parks and community shubs,” said Minister for planning Sonya Kilkenny.
“This is part of our long-termgreenfields-plan-it-made of land in the entire state to deliver more than 180,000 new houses in the coming decade.”
More than 320 hectares of land will be devoted to waterways, landscape architecture and drainage and a new quarry will also be established to support the delivery of building materials for more houses and infrastructure.
The PSP is part of the 10-year-old Greenfields plan of the state government that wants to deliver 180,000 new houses in the following decade.
In the context of the framework, it is expected that 27 PSPs will be assessed and approved with the commitment of the government to work with councils and industry to unlock land and to tackle issues that prevent Solar Land from being developed.
In June 2025, the Victorian government approved the Shepparton South East PSP, which could see a maximum of 2900 new houses that are suitable for more than 7,000 future residents.
Now that the Beveridge North West PSP has been approved, working can start on phase one.
