Lauri Markkanen has been in the NBA for eight years now and he has had his most success while playing for the Utah Jazz. Even with his NBA success, he has not forgotten where he came from. With the Eurobasket tournament, Markkanen had no second idea to represent his home country Finland.
Eurhoop Confirmed that Markkans will lead the Finnish team during the tournament, where they hope to compete for the championship. It turns out that Markkanen is the only NBA player who plays for the Finnish team (nice fact: Markkanen is one of only three Finnish players playing in the NBA, with the other two Hanno Mattola and Erik Murphy, neither of them had almost the same success that Markkanen had done).
Although Markkanen is not the team captain, he went on the public record with a number of pretty inspiring words that look like a leader who needs the team. More than that, this is not the first time that the Basketball Team of Finnish plays for the Basketball Team of Finland.
Before he came to America, Markkanen left his mark (not meant playing puncture) for the FIBA Under-18 and Under-20 tournaments in 2015 and 2016 respectively. He was then elevated to the Senior National Team for the Eurobasket Tournament in 2017 and has since played for them in Eurobasket in 2022 in 2022.
It cannot be said what kind of inheritance Markkanen leaves in the NBA, but it is quite clear that he will go like a Finnish legend. There should be absolutely no questions about that.
Markkanen is not the only jazz man in Eurobasket
While Markkanen spends his August on Eurobasket, he will be accompanied by one of his new jazz teammates: Jusuf Nurkic next season. While Markkanen will represent Finland, Nurkic will represent his home country, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Just like Markkanen, Nurkic also has his success in the FIBA tournament. Before Markkanen appeared, Nurkic also made a name for himself in the FIBA tournaments, where he was MVP of the tournaments below 18 and under-20 in 2012 and 2014 respectively. Since then he has been published in the Senior Team in 2013, 2017 and 2022. All those years later it is clear how much this is important to him.
Before this starts next season, it will be cool to see the jazz legitimate representation in one of the most popular international basketball tournaments ever made. But more than that, however, it is cool
To see these two jazzs go against each other, just a few weeks before they play together in Salt Lake City.
