Those were the words of NBA star LeBron James, now also a certified golf sucker, who was apparently locked into Friday’s coverage of The Annika, controlled by Gainbridge.
After Korda holed a birdie putt on Pelican Golf Club’s par-4 18th hole, her third straight and seventh of the day, to shoot 7-under 63, James went to X to share his excitement.
“I mean, it’s so cool, especially to play on Wednesdays [WNBA star] Caitlin [Clark]Korda said when asked about James’ support. “I actually saw him tweet about my shoes too, so it’s cool to see all these legends getting into the game of golf.”
Korda, a three-time winner at Pelican, including last year, did not miss a fairway on Friday and failed to hit just one green in regulation. She is playing this week for the first time since finishing fourth at the Lotte Championship in early October, having missed time to rehabilitate a new neck injury.
At 6 under, she entered the weekend three shots behind Grace Kim and Linn Grant.
“When you’re away for a while you miss it a lot, so I like to play at home,” Korda said. “I love playing for my family. It’s also good to recharge your batteries. The year is long and sometimes we have a lot of commitments off the golf course…
“This is what I love to do. I love to compete and I love to play good golf.”
And James likes to watch it.
