The Toto Japan Classic was first held in 1973 and was previously known as the LPGA Japan Classic, Japan Classic, LPGA/Japan Mizuno Classic, Mizuno Japan Classic, Mazda Japan Classic, Toray Japan Queens Cup and Mizuno Classic.
The tournament is co-approved by the 2025 LPGA Tour season and LPGA of Japan Tour and is played at Seta Golf Course in Otsu-shi, Shiga, Japan for the 15th time.
It has also been staged at Shin Sode-Gahara Country Club, Horyuju Country Club, Ibaraki Kokusai Golf Club, Hanayashiki Golf Club, Sagamihara Golf Club, Melshin-Yokaichi Country Club, Musashigaoka Golf Course, Hiroshima Country Club, Lions Country Club, Oak Hills Country Club, Tone Golf Club, Kashikojima Country Club and Taiheiyo Club
Rio Takeda is the reigning champion after winning in 2024 and belongs to the top betting contenders for 2025.
