During the last episode of The Hope Collective Podcast, ESPN NBA Insiders Tim Bontemps and Tim Macmahon discussed the potential trade market for Utah Jazz Star Vooruit Lauri Markkanen.
“I am very curious to see after the road last year, which he did not play great, of course the jazz intended to try to stand at the bottom of the rankings … he is not seen in the same light when he came from that first season, below [head coach] Will Hardy, “said Bontemps.
“I am curious that he is playing with the Finnish national team; they have had the opportunity to make a run possible in this tournament. I am curious if that will be a springboard to come back with jazz and look like the player he was a few years ago.”
“Because if he, A, is clearly good for the jazz to just let him play again. And b, he will be an interesting man to see at the trade market the following year to see if this is the time to go from him if he looks like an All-Star and trying to go in this youth deturn,” Bontemps continued.
Macmahon Added:
“I think he should play [at a high level] To restore his value in the trade market to be a conversation because of the contract he received. I mean, he got every cent that they could give him in a refund and expansion. It is a big, large contract. “
Utah Jazz could keep Lauri Markkanen in the midst of NBA rumors
Macmahon too reported Last month that “it would be too much to describe Markkans as inviolable, but Jazz still projects the All-Star Vooruit as an important player in their future core.”
Utah listened to offers for Markkanen last summer, but none of the conversations with other teams led CEO Danny Ainge and GM Justin Zanik to follow a potential trade agreement.
As a result, the Jazz Markkanen offered a four -year -old, $ 195.86 million rebellion and expansion, so that he could sign the deal last August and was not eligible to be traded before last season’s deadline.
Utah acquired Markkans in the trade in 2022 that Sent All-Star Guard Donovan Mitchell to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 7-footer was the number 7 general choice in the NBA design of 2017 from the University of Arizona.
Markkanen spent his first four seasons with the Chicago Bulls and one with the cavs before he was traded to Utah. He was named the most improved player of 2022-23 NBA after an average of a career-high 25.6 points with jazz.
In 47 games (all starts) last season, Markkanen had an average of 19 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 31.4 minutes per match while they shoot 42.3% from the field and 34.6% from 3-point territory.
He missed almost half the season, mainly because of a lower back injury.
