Former Minnesota -Applicant Audrey Wethonton has been named the 2025 receiver of the annual Hockey Inc. College. Scholarship, presented by JLG Architects.
Wethington receives the postdoctoral stock exchange of $ 2500 that is given annually to the NCAA or ladies hockey player who helps to build the game through their support for the next generation of hockey players.
The stock exchange is awarded in honor of JLG founder Lonnie Laffen, a passionate college -hockey supporter who died in 2020.
A resident of Edina, Minn., Wethington appeared in a program record 175 games for the Golden Gophers from 2020 to 2025, with 21 goals and 51 assists for 72 points. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in biology in 2023 and a master’s degree in biological sciences in 2025.
In 2024-25, Wethington was appointed as the CSC Academic All-America First Team and the NCAA Elite was 90 award receiver for women’s hockey with an average of 4.0 indicator. She was also a finalist for the Humanitarian Award 2024-25.
Wethington has spent its summers that goes back to high school -working youth camps such as the Minnesota Girls Hockey Camp, OS Hockey and Youth Hockey Hub. During the season as a colleague, she remained involved in the hockey community via the Rink Roots program of the University of Minnesota, visiting local ice rinks to help run practices.
Wethington also collaborated with Next of Can, a non-profit organization based in Minneapolis, to make hockey more accessible by donating hockey equipment to families in need. Last winter her efforts supported the Faribault (Minn.) Youth Hockey Association.
Over the past three years, Wethington has also offered weekly volunteer work in the Masonic Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis.

Executive director Sean Hogan in a statement. “In an exceptionally strong and competitive applicant pool, her candidacy really stood out. She not only excelled academically and athletically, but also her deep dedication to volunteering – supervising young people, organizing community drives and returning to countless other ways – really embodies the spirit of college Hockeyy.”

Wethington starts this month with medical school in Minnesota and is planning to pursue a career as an orthopedic surgeon or doctor for sports medicine.
“I am incredibly grateful to receive the college Hockey Inc. fair,” said Wethington. “I fell in love with hockey as a little girl who looked at the Gophers of the stands and it has formed every part I am. The sport has given me role models, lifelong memories, life lessons and a platform to flow in the next generation.
“Being recognized by this prize means the world for me, and I am dedicated to return to the game and the community that gave me so much in this next chapter of my life as a doctor.”
The college Hockey Inc. Scholarship, presented by JLG Architects, was first awarded in 2020 and is open to every NCAA hockey player (gentlemen or women, every division) who has exhausted their collegial suitability. Applications require a written essay about the contributions of the student athlete to the youth hockey community, which can be accompanied by videos, photos or other additional information.
The winner will be selected by a committee consisting of representatives from College Hockey Inc. and JLG Architects.
