Michael Chandler has once again teased and confirmed his fight against Conor McGregor this year when the UFC heads to the South Lawn of the White House.
McGregor already hits the gym regularly, is in the test pool and is determined to be part of this iconic event. Chandler had also previously verbally confirmed that he and the Irishman are fighting on June 14. ‘Iron’ also proposed the idea of a White House belt for those fighting on this card.
Chandler and McGregor served as opposing coaches at TUF 31 in 2023. Following the event’s conclusion, the two were scheduled to fight at UFC 303. However, McGregor withdrew from the fight due to a toe injury.
Thereafter, ‘The Notorious’ dealt with his BKFC duties, political ambitions and legal issues. However, when the promotion confirmed the event at the White House, the Dubliner wasted no time in showing interest and that now appears to be the case locked up to make his long-awaited return.
Michael Chandler is preparing to shout out Conor McGregor this summer
Michael Chandler teased a fight against McGregor during the CBS NYE broadcast, joking that he would give the Irishman an “old fashioned shout.”
“I will say it’s going to be a big year. Number one, like you said, the UFC is now on Paramount+… There’s also a rumor going around. We can’t confirm or deny it, but it sounds like I’m going to give Conor McGregor a good old fashioned passionate red, white and blue sometime this summer on the South Lawn of the White House. That’s the plan.”

After Chandler’s UFC 303 fight against Conor McGregor was scrapped, he aligned himself with Charles Oliveira at UFC 309 and lost by decision. Afterwards, ‘Iron’ also lost to Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314. He is currently on a three-fight losing skid with a UFC record of 2-5.
‘The Notorious’, on the other hand, did not arrive octagon after breaking his leg during his 2021 trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier.
The UFC has McGregor vs. Chandler not yet confirmed and will begin mapping out the White House event’s battle lineup in February. However, with most of the stars out, injured or uninterested, there’s only one way to make this card more attractive: by bringing back Conor McGregor.
