France’s Corentin Moutet takes on Aleksandar Vukic in Metz as the first round action concludes on Tuesday. In the second round the Italians Flavio Cobolli and Lorenzo Sonego play.
(8) Corentin Moutet vs. Aleksandar Vukic
Moutet is in the home stretch of an excellent 2025 campaign. The 26-year-old Frenchman has won 33 matches on the main tour and is ranked 31st in the rankings, putting him in position to be seeded at the 2026 Australian Open. Moutet has been particularly popular in the second half of the season, with semi-final appearances in Washington and Hangzhou and a runner-up finish in Almaty. He has won his opening match in 15 of his last 17 tournaments.
First up for Moutet on Tuesday is a second meeting with Vukic, who won their only previous meeting at last year’s Shanghai Masters 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. Vukic is a gruesome 14-28 at the ATP level this year, but has at least won a few matches in the fall, including a quarterfinal in Tokyo and a second-round appearance in Paris as a qualifier. Moutet is in much better form and has home advantage, so this will likely be a one-way street.

(4) Flavio Cobolli vs. Lorenzo Sonego
It will be an all-Italian match when Cobolli and Sonego face each other for the first time in their careers on Tuesday. While Cobolli earned a first-round bye as the No. 4 seed, Sonego started his week with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 defeat of qualifier Jan Choinski. After a brief breakdown, Sonego shows signs of life. In October, the world number 42 reached the final of Stockholm and the third round of Paris.

Cobolli, like his compatriot, was all over the place in the first half of 2025, fluctuating between great results and a huge losing streak. Over the past few months it has been the exact opposite; the world number 22 was solid but not spectacular. He has won his opening match at five of his last six events and should do the same in Athens.
Choice: Cobolli in 3
