EFL Cup Quarter-Final Rescheduled – But No FPL Blank Gameweek 17

EFL Cup Quarter-Final Rescheduled – But No FPL Blank Gameweek 17

We had previously covered Crystal Palace’s scheduling dilemma in mid-December, which was caused by the Eagles’ progress to the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.

The quarter-final was originally scheduled to be played in the week commencing December 15, but that would have seen Oliver Glasner’s side play four matches in eight days due to their UEFA Conference League commitments.

It brought the prospect of a White Game Week 17 for four clubs.

However, a new date has now been confirmed for the EFL Cup quarter-final between Arsenal and Palace.

The last eight clash will take place on Tuesday 23 December at 8pm GMT.

The other three EFL Cup matches will take place the week before as planned.

So no Premier League matches have to be moved and so we will not get a Blank Gameweek 17, unless there is a postponement due to bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances of course.

However, the quarter-final scheduling does mean that Arsenal and Palace will only get one day’s rest beforehand, with both teams playing in Gameweek 17 on Sunday, December 21.
