There is no doubt that the Phoenix Suns should change the way in which they play in the coming years if they want to have hope to be able to be contenders again. That is why they applied this enormous selection in this season, while also hiring head coach in Jordan Ott for the first time, of whom it is hoped that it will also build a culture in the valley.

This will certainly start the defensive end, with a whole series of new faces that are brought in to help. Dillon Brooks will find Quarterback that part of the Quarterback court, while Ryan Dunn, Oso Oighodaro, Mark Williams, Collin Gillespie and even Rookie Khaman Maluach will help enormously. The suns can rise from their homemade downfall, and it will start with stopping opponents who score so much.

Owner Mat Ishbia praises Mercury for doing what sunbathing not.

The duality of the time of owner Mat Ishbia who supervises the suns and Mercury is fascinating because of the contrasting fortunes of both. While the suns have returned en masse since he took over in 2023 – leading to the departure of both Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal this summer – the Mercury are quietly building a competition.

The transactions for Alyssa Thomas and Satou Sabally Were enormous in helping this achieving, and you can compare that with moving for Durant. Landing Dewanna Bonner happened to feel me after her failed Stint with the Indiana fever – and despite the fact that it was a veteran heavy team – that is where the similarities end. That’s because the stars not only fit better for the Mercury, they also try every game too.

Which led to the above social media post from Ishbia after another Mercury victory, with the choice of formulation that was used very interesting. Playing hard and competing for 40 minutes are exactly the things that the durant/booker LED version of the Suns did not do for two full seasons, and usually it felt like they just waited for the play -offs to turn it on.

The fact that they won only 36 games last season and did not even make it to the play-in tournament was a shame, and that was the catalyst for the enormous changes we recently seen. The Mercury currently has the third best defensive rating in the competition at 99.9, a song that the Suns could only dream of keeping even double the amount of opponents.

The mention of “all the little things” that are needed to win again feels like pointed language, because turning the ball on the couch when he was blown out were staples of the Suns last season. Maybe we read too much in this, Ishbia can praise the Mercury in any way he wants. They win by doing what the previous suns never wanted, that is a fact.
