Golf course architects to offer instruction and unique experiences for designers
After the overwhelming success of the inaugural event, the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) Foundation organizes its second design shoe camp in the world-famous Pinehurst Resort, 9-13 March 2026.
The five-day session-a fundraising initiative of the Stichting-Zal Aspirant golf course designers and architecture buffs offer the opportunity to collaborate from close and personally with nine renowned architects on a special site.
The curriculum takes participants from the class, where they learn the foundations and principles of golf course design, to Pinehurst Sandmines, adjacent to Pinehurst no. 10, for hands-on fieldwork.
In the field, the participants are given the opportunity to study the site, to run a layout and design gaps that fit the Sandmines property. The program also includes rounds of Golf at Pinehurst No. 2 and the Cradle with the instructors, who can offer design insights while playing, as well as social activities and opportunities to learn about the company of the instructors, all earlier ASGCA presidents that have collectively designed all over the world:

As an extra experience, Bill Coore, ASGCA, Van Coore & Crenshaw Golf Course Architects, participants will lead on a sitetour through Pinehurst no. 11. Currently Unde Construction in Sandmines, Pinehurst No. 11 is planned for the fall of 2027.
Through a combination of being on the ground at one of the most honored addresses in Golf and interaction with some of the leading architects in the world, Design Boot Camp is a rare opportunity for anyone who likes to draw golf holes and want to learn what it takes to continue to the next step in their architecture journey. Inaugural Bootcamp participant Rob Shults shared how it felt to get in the shoes of a practicing architect.
“We have experienced what it is like to be a golf course architect and have received an appreciation for golf architecture that can only be done with professionals personally,” said Shults, who was co-founder of Honors Golf and the managing partner at RLS Ventures. “This was the ultimate golf trip for everyone who loves golf and appreciates the nuances of the game.”
The costs amount to $ 20,000 per person, with $ 15,000 eligible for a tax deduction for charity institutions for the ASGCA Foundation (501C3 EIN: 23-7385866), which supports projects and organizations that improve the leaders of the public and municipal leaders, the next generation of the industry helps.
The registration costs include all design materials and supplies for the design; shelter in the historic Holly Inn, centrally located in the village of Pinehurst; eat and drink; golf; Caddies; tips; special gifts; and Dendens. Participation is limited to 16 registered persons.
Extra golf and activities can be booked at the expense of the participants.
