Enzo Maresca has insisted that he is not worried about the keepers of Chelsea, despite the expensive mistake by Robert Sanchez at Manchester United.
Sanchez was only sent in the 2-1 defeat in Old Trafford for five minutes, after a rash challenge on Bryan Mbeumo to refuse a goalscores’ chance. Last season, the Spaniard made five errors that led to goals in the Premier League, the joint of every goalkeeper.
Chelsea investigated the signing of a new keeper in the summer, with an approach for AC Milan’s Mike Maignan. The blues, however, opted for a deal and instead set their trust on Sanchez and deputy Filip Jorgensen.
Despite the last mistake by Sanchez, Maresca said that Chelsea is ‘happy’ with the options they have.
Robert [Sanchez] For a long period was very good for us. The last part of last season and the start of this season he was fantastic, “said Maresca prior to this weekend’s collision with Brighton.
“He made a mistake against Manchester United and acknowledged that I often said that when a keeper makes a mistake or when a midfielder makes a mistake, this is exactly the same.
“We are happy with Robert, we are happy with Filip [Jorgensen] And there is no problem with Robert. “
