Manchester United have become aware of how much they would have to spend to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba, according to a recent report.

After saying goodbye to Erik ten Hag last season, the Red Devils decided to appoint Ruben Amorim as the new manager. However, United have struggled over the past fourteen months under the Portuguese boss’ leadership.

Remember new hair

They currently sit sixth in the Premier League with 31 points from twenty games. Although they are only three points behind fourth-placed Liverpool, they are only four points ahead of fourteenth-placed Crystal Palace.

After failing to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United in their last two matches, Man Utd have decided to part ways with Amorim and Darren Fletcher has been appointed as interim manager.

It has been suggested that the Scot could be in charge for the next few games before a new interim boss is appointed, who will stay until the end of the season. United are planning to hire a new manager next summer.

Amid this situation, the club’s hierarchy plans to continue their work to improve the squad this year. It has been widely reported that, following the overhaul of their attacking department last summer, United are planning to revamp the engine room.

It’s a poor Ut

Transfers states that Man Utd have identified Baleba as a ‘perfect’ option and could make a concrete move to secure his services during this winter transfer or next summer.

With the Cameroonian still under contract until 2028, the Seagulls are in no rush to sell him and have slapped a whopping £100million price tag on his head to keep the vultures at bay.

The report claims that following Baleba’s slight dip in form this season, his potential suitors, such as United, thought he might become available on a cheap deal. However, Brighton have no intention of letting him leave for less than their valuation.

The 22-year-old has been on international duty with Cameroon to play in AFCON and has led his team to the quarter-finals.

It remains to be seen whether Man Utd will ultimately manage to secure his services to strengthen the midfield department.
