City moved ahead of the Gunners to top spot in the table with a 3-0 home win, although the north London outfit could return to the top with a win over Everton tonight.
Reijnders scored his first goal at the Etihad Stadium either side of an Erling Haaland brace to maintain a seven-match winning streak in all competitions.
“It feels good to finally score at home,” he told Sky Sports. “I’ve been waiting for it for a long time, today was the day. I’m also happy to win the match.”
The Dutch midfielder linked up brilliantly with Haaland in a crowded West Ham box, with the Norwegian providing a stunning assist for the goal.
“A good assist, that gave him the ball [Rayan] Cherki and had to think quickly to pass it on to me so I could shoot it in.
Man City vows to ‘keep the pressure on Arsenal’ in the Premier League title race
About the title race with Arsenal, Reijnders added: “We had to keep the confidence and you want to win every game, but with the right confidence and the right mentality you can do it. It shows how much quality we have and how much we have grown as a team. It’s good work from us and we have to keep going.”
“We have to see. We will keep the pressure on them [Arsenal]. They are above us, not now but before, we have to keep the pressure on.
“We all have to do that. We have to show every match that we have the quality and play without fear. We did that very well today.”
