Malik Beasley Mulling Pistons Reunion in the middle of NBA Rumors

Reportedly there is mutual interest between NBA Free Agent Guard Malik Beasley and the Detroit Pistons, according to Omary Sankati II from the Detroit free press.

“It is definitely a place where I want to be,” Beasley said to the New York Knicks after the play -off elimination of Detroit last season. “To be here, my mother’s birthplace, I grew up a lot here in the summer. It is huge to be able to perform for this city and I am happy that I got that.”

Malik Beasley linked to federal gambling research

The Front Office was planning to sign Beasley this summer for a three -year contract of $ 42 million.

However, the offer was withdrawn when ESPNs Shams Charania On June 29, Beasley reported the target of a federal gambling probe due to accusations of bets that were placed during the 2023-24 season.

At least one US Sportsbook noted that “unusual heavy gambling interests” with regard to his own statistics, with such bets, called prop bet, when he played for the Milwaukee Bucks.

The chances of Beasley that grabbed less than 2.5 rebounds, moved considerably at sports books before the competition and fell from approximately +120 to around -250 due to an increase in action on the Under. Beasley finally recorded six rebounds, and all lost under bets.

Instead of retaining Beasley, the pistons decided to use most of their cap-space to sign Caris and to complete a drawing and trade agreement for Duncan Robinson.

NBA investigates gambling feases against Beasley

Beasley’s lawyer, Steve Haney, told Charania in August that Beasley was no longer the target of the investigation.

“Months after this investigation, Malik is not loading and is not the target of this investigation,” said Haney. “A statement without indictment, indictment or conviction may never have the catastrophic consequence that this has caused Malik. This has literally been the opposite of the suspicion of innocence.”

Although Beasley is no longer the target of the federal gambling probe, he is still a ‘subject’ of the research. This means that the former First-Rounder is not yet clear and he has to wait for the resolution of the Federal and NBA studies.

Although he is under federal and competition research, Haney confirmed that Beasley is looking forward to the following season and remains interested in a reunion with the pistons.

“I know that if there is a path, Malik Beasley would like to look at playing for Detroit next season,” said Haney. “However, I am not his agent, so I don’t know if there is still interest, I don’t know if there is still money, what the mutual level of interest is in him that returns to Detroit. I know he has a lot of love for Detroit and want, if possible, look back at perhaps.”

Pistons keep Beasley’s non-bird rights

The pistons currently have 13 fully guaranteed contracts, as well as the partially guaranteed minimum deal of Javonte Green. The team also has the non-bird rights of Beasley, which means that it could offer him a multi-year deal with an annual salary with a value of a maximum of $ 7.2 million.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Knicks had previously shown interest in Beasley. However, the Knicks have already started filling in their training camp schedule with veterans Landry Shamet, Malcolm Brogdon and Garrison Mathews.

Beasley, who finished second last season for the Sixth Man of the Year Award, appeared in all 82 games (18 Starts) in 2024-25, his first campaign with the pistons.

He on average 16.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 27.8 minutes per match while he shot 43% of the floor and a career-best 41.6% from outside.

Per Basketball referenceBeasley also made 319 3-Pointers, the most in a season in Pistons-Franchise history and the second most in the NBA behind Timberwolves Star Guard Anthony Edwards.
