Laver Cup: Alcaraz leads the bid of Europe on the second consecutive success

The Laver Cup 2025 takes place from 19-21 September in the Chase Center in San Francisco, California-the home of the Golden State Warriors of the NBA.

This is the eighth edition of the Laver Cup, which has been held annually since the debut in 2017 (apart from being canceled in 2020 because of the COVID-19 Pandemie). Team Europe leads Team World 5-2 in the head-to-head series after the end of a two-cap losing series with a dramatic 13-11 victory last year in Berlin, Germany.

Here are the schedules for the 2025 Laver Cup:

Europe
Carlos Alcaraz
Alexander Zverev
Holger Rune
Casper Ruud
Jakub fascinates
Flavio Cobolli

Captain: Yannick Noah

World
Taylor Fritz
Alex de Minauraur
Francisco Cerundolo
Alex Michelsen
Joao Fonseca
Reilly Opelka

Captain: Andre Agassi

The Europeans followed last year’s event 8-4 in the last day and were still with four points after splitting the first two Sunday rubbers. She brought that in Must-Win situations in each of the last two games, which they both won. Zverev kept the hope of Europe alive by beating Frances Tiafoe in a super-tiebreaker for the third set, so that Alcaraz vs. Fritz was a winner-take-all affair. The Spaniard drove 6-2, 7-5 to reach the cup.
