Kamala Harris does not rule out a new run for the White House.
In one interview with the BBC Posted Saturday, Harris said she expects a woman to be president in the coming years, and that it “could possibly” be her.
“I’m not done yet,” said the former California attorney general and senator.
The former vice president said she has not yet decided whether she will run a presidential campaign in 2028. But she rejected suggestions she would face major problems.
“I’ve lived a life of service my entire career and it’s in my bones. And there are many ways to serve,” she said. “I’ve never listened to polls.”
She recently gave a series of interviews in response to the September issue of her book, “107 days.” It reflects on her experience replacing then-President Joe Biden as the 2024 Democratic presidential candidate. he dropped out of the breed.
She ultimately lost to the Republican president Donald Trump.
In one interview with Associated Press Last week, Harris, 60, also made it clear that running again in 2028 is still on the table. She said she sees herself as a leader of the party, including pushing back against Trump and preparing for the 2026 midterm elections.
When asked in an Oct. 17 interview with AP whether she had plans for a 2028 bid, Harris said, “I haven’t decided yet. Sincerely. I haven’t decided yet. Maybe or not. I haven’t decided yet.”
When asked specifically if she still wanted to do the work herself, she used the past tense and said, “It’s a job I wanted to do.” But she noted that the only way to do that is to “run” and win.
In the meantime, political jokes among Democrats for the 2028 presidential election appears to be taking place even earlier than usual.
Several potential candidates are already taking steps to get to know voters in key states, including California’s governor. Gavin Newsomlimited term Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and California Rep. Ro Khanna. Ultimately, more than thirty leading Democrats could participate in the primaries.
