The AAM Aadmi party (AAP) held demonstrations in Delhi Prior to the Indian Asia Cup collision with Pakistan and protested against the decision of the Narendra Modi to continue with the match after the terror attack of the Pahalgam and recovering: “How cricket and terrorism could continue.”

Under the leadership of Delhi Unit Saurabh Bharadwaj and National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, the party accused the center of ignoring the feelings of the families of victims and prioritizing sport over national mourning.

During the protest, AAP leaders and party workers burned images that symbolized Pakistani players and called for a widespread boycott of the game.

“This is a gross humiliation from our women who have lost their husbands at the Pahalgam attack, but our central leadership continues with the cricket match in India-Pakistan,” said Saurabh Bharadwaj during a press conference in the capital.

Bharadwaj also warned that AAP -activists would take active steps against public screening and say that his employees would “uncover” the competition, “so that people would stop going to these points of sale.”

Bharadwaj took the ante and tweeted: “Pakistan’s cricket players mock our widows in such a dirty, disgusting way, and we will play cricket with them. Shame the BJP government.”

Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal also made his decision to continue with the game.

“What is the need for the prime minister to organize a competition with Pakistan? The whole country says that this competition should not happen. Why is this competition organized?”, Post Kejriwal on X.

Kejriwal went a step forward and posted: “Is this also done under the pressure of Trump? How much are you going to bend for Trump?”

Bharadwaj has added to the controversy and pointed to a post on social media, reportedly divided by Pakistani cricketers, which shows that Pakistani army chef Asif Munir Vermilion applied to the hair painted in the Indian tricolor.

He described the image as a mocking reference to Operation Sindoor, India’s opposed against terror bases in Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack.

There has been no official response from the government or the BJP in response to the protests of AAP.

According to current policy, India avoids bilateral competitions with Pakistan, but continues to participate in multilateral cricket tournaments such as the Asia Cup and ICC events.
