Sara del Fabbro, a student jockey from Bergamo, Italy, earned her first US victory earlier this year, but is now on the side after a training accident. Friend and colleague driver Matilda Burnham has organized a fundraising to help with her repair costs.

During the training in Delaware Park, Del Fabbro suffered a broken leg when a horse turned around during the morning exercise, according to the GoFundMe page. She is expected to have six to eight months to recover and is planning to spend a large part of that time with family in Italy.

“Her nice loving spirit and kindness will be missed and we can’t wait to return her,” Burnham wrote.

Del Fabbro came to the United States at the end of 2024, after having successfully driven in Italy and England. She grabbed her first American victory on February 16, 2025 in Laurel Park and led ifelebadforyouson to an 8¼-length victory in a Maiden of $ 12,500 that claimed racing. That milestone came after 17 starts without a victory in America.

Closed with Laurel for the summer, Del Fabbro had moved her tack to Delaware Park. She won there with eight out of 79 starters, good for a draw for 12one During the 2025 meeting.

Matilda Burnham launched the GoFundMe campaign “Aid Sara del Fabbros Recovery” on August 7, 2025. From now on, the fundraising has collected $ 2,701 from 15 donors.

Those who want to support Del Fabbro can donate via the GoFundMe page.
