Jessie Xu recently returned from representing Canada on the 2025 Junior Pan American Games in Asunción, Paraguay. This multi -port event, which welcomed more than 4,000 athletes from 41 countries, contained a very competitive table tennis tournament. While the games include delegations from all over America, the table tennis event saw participation of the best paddle nations of the continent, which ensured a strong and challenging field.
Jessie embraced this challenge, competed in four events: girls singles, girls doubles, mixed Doubles and the Girls’ team event. She earned bronze medals in the singles and double events, results that she allows to the strong support of her teammates and coaches.
For Jessie, the games were a profound learning experience. This was her second time he competed at this level, after her first performance at the Pan Am Games in Santiago, Chile in 2023 at the age of 15. Since that time she has focused on growing as both an athlete and a person. She continues to appreciate these opportunities to learn from every competition, especially those who challenge her to adapt.
“It was such an honor to represent Team Canada,” Jessie shared. “I have learned to adjust my mindset and adjust it to the circumstances better after my semi -final. These lessons will help me for future events, and I am so grateful for this opportunity.”
This growth mindset defines the approach of Jessie. Her dedication is further demonstrated by its immediate return to the competition, which Canada represents for an impressive sixth consecutive time on the upcoming ITTF Pan American Youth Championships in Rosario, Argentina from 24 August and runs until August 31, 2025 -a testament for its stagnant dedication.
The Butterfly family is proud of supporting athletes such as Jessie, that embody sportiness, continuous improvement and calm trust that comes from hard work. The entire butterfly community wishes her and team Canada the best in Argentina.
