Brown announces his intention to switch to martial arts after retirement
The center of activity in the NBA this weekend was the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, CA, for NBA All-Star Weekend. NBA All-Star Media Day was held on Saturday prior to All-Star Saturday Night activities on the home court of the Los Angeles Clippers.

When Brown met with the media, he said he had come into contact with one of the most important figures in all of martial arts.
‘I have spoken [UFC CEO] Dana White on some things, but we’ll see how things go.
It should be noted that the UFC CEO has ties to Massachusetts and is a staunch supporter of Jaylen Brown’s baseball club. Whether Brown actually makes the transition to the world of competitive violence after his roundball days end remains to be seen, but if he does make the transition to MMA, here is some pertinent information:

Crossover Athletes Nothing new in MMA
If Jaylen Brown does indeed make the jump to MMA once his basketball career is over, he would be the next athlete from another sport to make the transition to the cage. In late 2010, after his NFL career was derailed due to a domestic violence arrest, former Dallas Cowboys defenseman Greg Hardy tried his luck in MMA.
Despite some very public protests, Dana White gave Hardy a chance to prove his worth on Contender series by Dana White. Hardy had to come back a second time, but he was given a UFC contract.
In recent times, former U.S. Olympian Gable Steveson has transitioned from college wrestling to MMA. Steveson will fight next Thursday in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico in MFL 3 against Hugo Lezama for the evening’s main event at heavyweight.
Final thoughts
Jaylen Brown has shown that he is a brilliant player on the basketball court. A championship ring in 2024 and NBA Finals MVP honors are indicative of that.
If Brown chooses to transition to the sport of MMA once he retires from the NBA, he will have to take on a new challenge. Will anything come of this?
Only time will tell.
