Brendan Allen has given his two cents on the potential matchup between Khamzat Chimaev and Nassourdine Imavov. Chimaev, the new UFC middleweight kingpin, is currently on the sidelines due to a minor injury that requires surgery and will return next year to defend his championship after Ramadan.
Meanwhile, ‘Borz’ has called up Imavov and asked the latter to do so working on his wrestling before they possibly lock the horns.
However, Imavov and Chimaev have made it clear that, thanks to the Dagestan-Chechnya brotherhood, they have no desire to shake hands, but will ultimately fight if that is what the promotion dictates.
‘The Sniper’ says his ultimate goal is the UFC Middleweight Championship and not fighting Chimaev. That said, the Chechen-born Emirati also has no problem if Imavov agrees waiting for a title shot until Khamzat Chimaev moves up to light heavyweight after one defense of the middleweight title.
Brendan Allen breaks down the potential fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Nassourdine Imavov
Recently, Brendan Allen spoke out about the possible Chimaev vs. Imavov showdown. Allen picked Khamzat Chimaev to defeat Imavov, telling Cageside Press:
“I definitely think Imavov has a chance. His striking is good; he’s pretty fast, but there’s not a lot of pop on the punches. I think Chimaev could take him down. Imavov’s ground isn’t really that great. I think Chimaev would win.”

Due to personal ties and the relationship between their countries, Dagestan and Chechnya, the two want to avoid the match, which Allen says is not a good idea. ‘All In’ added:
“In my opinion, they kind of shot themselves in the foot because now people will say, ‘Oh, maybe it won’t be a good fight because they already don’t want to fight.’ If we were on the old schedule and they got paid for the pay-per-view, they might have shot themselves in the foot, but either way, they’re going to fight.
