Jason Wilcox pushes for United for Tino Livramento – Man United news and transfer news | The People’s Person

Despite his repeated efforts, Ruben Amorim will not be impressed with Diogo Dalot’s form and Manchester United are expected to take action to rectify this next summer.

The Portugal international has been a huge liability both defensively and offensively, regardless of whether he has started on the right or on the left.

The former Porto star is not a wingback, something Amorim’s system relies on. Amad has impressed going forward, but there are question marks over his defensive play.

Patrick Dorgu, who was appointed last January, remains a work in progress and a versatile full-back who can play on either flank would suit United’s needs.

Wing back needed

And according to Ben Jacobs (via Team conversation), the Red Devils really like Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento for his ability to do work on both sides.

A left wing-back is what United need most at the moment, while a player on the right would give Amad the freedom to play closer to goal. A win-win situation where the Red Devils kill two birds with one stone.

United’s director of football Jason Wilcox, who worked with the Englishman during his time at Southampton, is urging the 20-time English league champions to pursue the 23-year-old.

“The great thing about Tino Livramento is that he can play on both sides, so I can understand why Manchester United would like the player. And let’s not forget that Jason Wilcox knows him incredibly well, so he plays a part in all of this too.”

The England international is reportedly at the top of Manchester City’s wish list, with the Magpies also keen to tie him down to a new long-term contract.

The Chelsea academy graduate’s current contract runs until 2028, meaning United will not have an easy time if they want to sign Tino Livramento.

United like Tino Livramento

“Man City appear to be the club most determined, according to sources, to sign Tino Livramento in 2026. But if they make progress and there is a feeling that Newcastle could sell, other clubs will of course come forward.

“It is absolutely true that Manchester United have people who like Tino Livramento, but it simply has not gone further than that and Ross Wilson, the new sporting director at Newcastle, has just come in and one of his first tasks, along with a few others at the club, is to get Livramento to sign a new contract.”

Despite the fact that INEOS has had the full-back in their sights for some time, his injury record is not the best. He has already missed nine games this season, while two seasons ago he was out 56 days due to three separate injuries. In his last season at Southampton, Livramento was out for over a year.

However, he has already proven himself in the Premier League, which seems to be INEOS’ transfer mantra at the moment, and would be a valuable addition given the options Amorim currently has.
