Jesse Lingard makes shock decision to leave his career in limbo – Man United News And Transfer News | The People’s Person

Former Manchester United winger Jesse Lingard has made a big decision about his playing future.

United career

Lingard joined the Manchester United academy in 2000 and won the Youth Cup alongside Paul Pogba and Ravel Morrison in 2011.

He made his senior debut in 2014 and became a regular in the team during the 2015–16 season. His biggest moment for the club came in 2016 when he scored the winning goal in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace.

However, Lingard’s United career turned sour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and he was loaned out to West Ham United in 2020.

The England international then left the club permanently in 2022 to join Nottingham Forest.

After his contract expired, he spent several months out of football before signing for South Korean side FC Seoul.

Career in Korea

Lingard played in total 66 games for FC Seoul, scoring 18 times and providing 10 assists.

Just a few weeks ago, he scored twice and provided an assist for the South Korean side in the Asian Champions League.

End of a chapter

The BBC report that “Former Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard says he has ‘mutually agreed’ to terminate his contract with FC Seoul and will leave next week.”

On Wednesday he will play his last match for Seoul in the Champions League against Australian Melbourne City.

Lingard wrote on his Instagram: “After positive discussions with FC Seoul, we have mutually agreed that I will leave the club at the end of the 2025 season, with my last match on December 10.”

He added: “My time in South Korea was incredible – the football, atmosphere and passion around this club were top class.”

Lingard concluded: “The love, support and appreciation you have shown me over the last two years has been truly amazing. I will always be grateful for the opportunity to play for such a huge club.”

Lingard will now become a free agent and faces a dilemma over where his career will go after spending two seasons away from the top level.
