Jalen Green teases a new version of himself Rockets has always dreamed

I don’t give up jalen green and you can’t make me. Don’t even try!

I even think he will have a career year in Phoenix alongside Devin Booker, who will easily be the best perimeter scorer with which Green has ever played. On Suns Media Day, Green spoke about his role in the Suns Backcourt and said:

“I am excited to play with the book. I think it will be a good situation. I think I will be able to learn a lot from him at the same time, while adding what I can bring to the table. I think we will complement each other a lot, especially with the system that Ott plays us.

If Green can be a complementary guard at a high level that he was talking about, of which Rockets fans always knew that it was the best role for him, and not the number 1 scorer he had to be that, I think the defense of the Suns really shall Produce more than people expect.

In particular, Green’s remark about him and booker stands out for himself and for others. If Booker can be the setup man for Green that he has never had in Houston – and his improved playmakers who give a real opportunity – then this half of the defense could stand out, even in a conference loaded with Great Guard duos.

Playing green in an offensive system should help its efficiency enormously

Last season, only 26.2% of Green’s two-pointed field goals were helped and 53.8% of his 3-Pointers. Those are incredibly low figures, even for players who are expected to create their own attack.

With Booker by his side and taking a majority of the Balhandel of the Suns, that number of Green’s should have to Both rise dramatically. His true shooting and effective field target percentage (both of which were driven just below the competition average during his career) should rise with them.

Rockets fans wanted two things from Jalen Green; Scoring more efficiently and more creation power. They never really got those things – Green is not without reproach here, but he was never set up to succeed in one of those categories. Instead, he was asked to be the top scorer and an attacking option.

In Phoenix, Devin Booker is all that position, which means that Green will finally be able to play the Secondary Guard option, a shift that can unleash the talent that has made him a promising player all the time. Hearing Green talking about what he and booker are capable of is a good first step.
