The Phoenix Suns held their official media day for the 2025-26 season on Wednesday and owner Mat Ishbia came out. He was for the first time to address the collected journalists – and although he accepted the fault of the shortcomings of the last few seasons – he was also quickly on the fact that the franchise also became good.
Much of this focused on the fan experience – apart from the product on the field – and no matter how well the WNBA franchise has come in the Mercury. Ishbia revealed that this coming campaign would be less about victories and losses, and instead about creating the culture and identity that was missing in the valley since he took over.
Suns are a team in victory, must scare Devin Booker.
As part of his monologue about where the suns are now, Ishbia has made the seemingly innocent remark to claim that this schedule is one that is “in the predominance”. This is both correct and positive, and it can also be seen as a farewell shot on Kevin Durant. His term of office did not succeed, and it is also clear that he was not rather Even at the height of his powers, although still incredible.
Mat Ishbia has:
– Put Marion & Stat in Ring of Honor
– brought Steve Nash back
-Costed ultramodern Mercury facility
-Restored Suns G-League team

With three Rookies and a few recurring second -year boys in Ryan Dunn and Oso ighodaro now in the mix – with 11 new faces in Phoenix compared to this time last year – the change that the organization is looking for takes place for Devin Booker. Only from the words of Ishbia is that he believes that this team is still a few years away from achieving their full potential.
If you are a 28-year-old Superstar scared in their prime, time is not something you have almost as much of. This is somehow year 11 for Booker in the Valley, and on the very first he is two years away from fighting again. That happens would require a level of happiness for the suns that we have never seen before.
So although Ishbia apparently more is a long -term approach, it is not ideal for Booker and the “unfinished company” that he says with the Suns. On the other hand – if you sign up for the rest of the decade to earn an obscene amount – you cannot complain publicly.
This is also the first time since buying the franchise that – at least for the media – Ishbia has said something that seems to be in full contradiction where his star player is. We know that cutting corners and trade for Durant and Bradley Beal did not work, but that was at least an aggressive form of trying to improve. We will see how they are tight and trust the process era.
