Minister of Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan met the Russian Vice Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev on Friday to discuss the reinforcement of bilateral cooperation in agriculture, where both parties show interest in formalizing the partnership by a memorandum of agreement.
During the meeting in Krishi Bhawan here, the leaders concentrated on improving agricultural trade between the two countries, in particular the expansion of Indian export of agricultural products to Russia.
Focus on trade, export and well -being of farmers
Chouhan emphasized the most important priorities of India in the sector, including guaranteeing food security, improving the income of farmers and promoting access to safe and nutritious food, the Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement.
“The exemplary level of mutual trust and understanding characterizes the long -term partnership between India and Russia,” said Chouhan, who called on the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – the world is one family – to underline the importance of international cooperation for farmers’ bus and food security.
Patrushev emphasized the robust cooperation between the two countries in different sectors, including agriculture, and conveyed Russia’s sharp interest to deepen the ties of agricultural trade. He expressed enthusiasm for formalizing this partnership through a mou.
The discussions were aimed at balancing bilateral trade and strengthening technical partnerships. India emphasized the importance of improved market access for important agricultural products in Russia and expressed optimism for solving excellent issues.
Both parties agreed to delve into the cooperation in academic trade fairs and stock market opportunities for students, while exploring joint initiatives in Seed-Traceability systems to promote innovation and technology-driven agricultural solutions.
Patrushev is currently visiting India as part of the preparations for the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to India in December.
