Tempe, AZ – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (“ITA”) is pleased to share the completion of a documentary on rising tennis star Jay Friend, a senior at the University of Arizona, as he competed in the 2025 ITA Men’s All-American Championships. The full documentary is now available to college tennis fans and can be found at ITA YouTube channel.
In this documentary, fans gain access to Friend’s quest for his first ITA All-American Singles title at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the University of Tulsa campus. Fans will see how Friend navigates from match to match throughout the tournament and how his strong bond with his head coach Clancy Shields has helped Friend reach new heights as a player.
Friend finished No. 9 in singles at the end of the 2024-25 season and entered this fall at No. 5 in the ITA Preseason Singles Rankings and as one of the top-ranked players in the ITA All-American field. Building on a strong summer that saw him win gold at the FISU Summer World Games in Germany, Friend chronicles his development as a player as he competes in his final season with Arizona in this documentary.
The first documentary in a series of planned feature films alongside some of our top sports players, other upcoming feature films will include Valerie Glozman (Stanford), as well as athletes competing at the ITA Conference Masters Championships, NCAA Individual Championships and the Master’U BNP Paribas Championships.
