The incident reportedly took place at a branch of HDFC Bank in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. In the video, the employee, identified as Aastha, is seen arguing with an account holder over a complaint. During the heated argument, she is heard using foul language and invoking her caste, repeatedly saying, “I am a Thakur,” and warning the customer, “Don’t mess with me.”
In the video, the bank employee can be seen standing across the desk from the customer and angrily reprimanding him. At one point she menacingly lifted her laptop as if she wanted to throw it at the other person during the confrontation. “Aisi ki taisi kardenge (I will ruin you),” she shouts.
In the midst of the blazing argument, we see several colleagues intervene and try to calm her down and defuse the situation. Despite their efforts, the employee continues to yell and behave aggressively.
The video has been widely circulated on social media platforms. Users said the bank employee’s behavior was unprofessional and condemned her for bringing caste into the dispute. Many have called for strict action against the employee and accountability of the private bank.
It is still unclear what caused the argument between the bank employee and the customer. So far, HDFC Bank has not issued any official statement on the incident.
