Former Manchester United star Wes Brown has told his former club to make a move for Chelsea star Cole Palmer at the end of the season, amid ongoing reports that he could leave the club in the summer.
After scoring fifteen goals in the Premier League last season CHELSEAhis current campaign has been somewhat disappointing. Palmer has been plagued by injuries and has seen his playing time shortened.
Add that to the fact that he is not happy with all the management changes taking place at the club, and there are many reports that he could actually pack his bags and leave at the end of the season, with Manchester United tipped to try to make a move.
Now, amid all the speculation, and speaking to BettingLounge, Brown was asked whether he would rather United sign Palmer or Aston Villa’s rising star Morgan Rogers. He replied: “Who would be a better signing for Manchester United? That’s a tough question.”
“They’re a little bit different from each other, different players. Rogers has a very high quality to his game, but I think Palmer is naturally gifted in some of the things he does.”
“Palmer has the flair you need to be a Manchester United player. He brings those little things into play that your standard players can’t do. He was born with that special ability to do things with the ball, see runs and play passes.”
“I’d love to see them both play together, but if I had to pick one, who would it be? I keep changing my mind about it, but I’d go for Palmer, but that’s the problem you have.”
“I would be very happy with either one. But Palmer has shown that he has that little bit more confidence, a good kind of arrogance in his game that you need to be a United player.”
“We’ve seen Palmer do it on the biggest stages, while Rogers is perhaps a more straightforward player. He tries to punish teams every week when he gets the ball, and he’s electric too.”
“You can’t just buy anyone, and it can also come down to the fact that you simply have no choice. You have to remember that the other club also wants to do business.”
CHELSEA WANTS BELLINGHAM
Who could replace Cole Palmer at Chelsea if he leaves in the summer of 2026, amid ongoing media speculation and rumors claiming the Manchester United target could be open to a move away from the Blues.
Should Palmer leave, Chelsea’s attacking blueprint would have to be adjusted. The Englishman’s mix of creativity, goals and versatility has been central to their rise under Liam Rosenior.
Replacing these qualities – and finding someone who can thrive in Premier League football – will be one of the Blues’ biggest challenges in the 2026 summer transfer window, but according to reports, Jude Bellingham could be the player to replace Cole Palmer.
Bellingham is not a comparable Palmer clone; he’s more of a box-to-box operator with elite creative output and physicality. But his ability to influence games, score and assist from midfield would make him a transformative asset capable of replacing both Palmer’s creativity and leadership in the final third.
Chelsea’s reported interest suggests the club is ambitious in targeting players of the absolute highest caliber – although the required financial firepower and competition from other European giants make this a difficult search.
He could be Palmer’s ultimate upgrade at Chelsea.

Losing Palmer would be a huge blow for Chelsea, that’s for sure. He may not be at his best this season, but he is still one of Chelsea’s biggest stars. CHELSEA and a player who brings so many goals to that attack.
Bellingham is a player who frustrates so many fans because he can be brilliant, but he can also miss games, and that is not what Chelsea need in a player who could potentially replace Palmer.
Furthermore, his high asking price and £500,000-a-week wages could pose a problem for the Blues.
RODGERS REPLACE PALMER?
With strong transfer rumors surrounding Cole Palmer this winter – including serious interest from Manchester United and CHELSEA reportedly setting an asking price of £120 million – a blockbuster departure from Stamford Bridge this summer can no longer be ruled out.
Should Palmer leave, Chelsea’s attacking blueprint would have to be adjusted. The Englishman’s mix of creativity, goals and versatility has been central to their rise under Liam Rosenior.
Rogers’ Premier League experience and attacking flair – capable of playing centrally or wide and creating as well as scoring – places him firmly on Chelsea’s shortlist of realistic targets.
At 26, he offers both the physicality and tactical flexibility that Chelsea value, and he could play in a similar role to Palmer, driving transition play and linking sharply with strikers.

Rodgers is a decent player, he is someone the fans enjoy watching on a weekly basis and a player that all the big clubs have been watching since he made the move to Aston Villa a few seasons ago.
He’s creative, he scores goals and while he’s not as clinical as Palmer, he’s a player Blues fans would welcome to the club if his compatriot were to leave and step up.
CHELSEA The fans don’t want to lose Palmer, and we’re sure the club doesn’t want to either, but Rodgers would be a brilliant Premier League solution.
