Ukraine says that Russia has launched the biggest nightly drone attack of the war

Russia has launched nearly 500 drones in Ukraine in the largest overnight drone bombing of the three-year war, the Ukrainian Air Force said.

A military airport in the city of Dubno, close to the western border of Ukraine, was the most important target, said spokesperson for the Air Force Yuriy Ihnat.

Civil servants said one person was injured.

The Associated Press could not verify these claims independently.

Russia renews the push on the front line

This escalation in air strikes comes as Russia renews its push on the east and northeast parts of the approximately 1,000 kilometers of front line.

The two nations reached an agreement during direct conversations in Istanbul to exchange at least 1,200 prisoners of war on each side and repatriate thousands of bodies of those who were killed in the war.

It was one of the few things that the two parties agreed earlier this month, although broader negotiations did not come close to end the war.

Mr. Zenskyy said that his country had received a first group of prisoners from Russia, and added that it would take a few days to complete the swap.

None of the parties said how many prisoners had been changed on Monday.

But the Russian Ministry of Defense said in his own statement that the same number of soldiers on each side had been exchanged.
