Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Antoine Semenyo will make his Manchester City debut in tomorrow’s FA Cup tie against Exeter City.

Semenyo signed for City from Bournemouth on a five-and-a-half-year deal on Friday after the two teams agreed a transfer fee of £62.5 million.

The Ghana international joins after an impressive campaign with Bournemouth and Guardiola has confirmed that the new recruit will come straight into his squad. City host third-tier Exeter at the Etihad on Saturday.

“He is about to be selected. I don’t know if he will start or not, but he will definitely be selected,” Guardiola said at his pre-match press conference.

Guardiola has urged Manchester City fans to be patient with Semenyo. Despite the player’s proven quality in the Premier League, Guardiola has said there is no pressure on the 26-year-old to make an immediate impact.

“To understand that he does not come here for one, two or three games, but for many years, so that he has all the time in the world.

“I know he is an exceptional guy that we have. The team will embrace him because this particular group of players and club will make people so comfortable when they arrive. He will adapt quickly.”
