From Kia Seltos to the new Renault Duster: seven new cars launching in India in January 2026

The Indian car market is set for a busy start to 2026, with a full slate of new car launches set to take place in January. From next-generation petrol SUVs to highly anticipated electric models, manufacturers like Kia, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Renault, Tata and MG are gearing up to introduce as many as seven new or significantly updated vehicles. These upcoming launches bring sharper styling, tech-heavy cabins, updated safety suites and a broad mix of powertrains aimed at buyers from all segments.

Kia Seltos (second generation)

Kia will kick off the year on January 2, 2026 with the launch of the second generation Seltos. Built on the new K3 platform, the SUV features a bolder, more upright design inspired by Kia’s larger global models. The front is dominated by a wide grille with vertical accents, square LED headlights and a striking vertical DRL signature. At the rear, the license plate has been moved to the bumper, while inverted L-shaped LED taillights add a modern touch.

The interior undergoes a complete overhaul, accentuated by a wide digital setup that combines dual 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation, along with a dedicated climate control display. Features include ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, Bose audio, 360-degree camera, wireless connectivity, OTA updates and Level 2 ADAS. Despite the new platform, engine options remain unchanged, with a choice of petrol and diesel paired with manual, CVT, IMT and DCT gearboxes.

Mahindra XUV 7XO

Launching on January 5, the XUV 7XO is essentially a facelifted XUV700 and continues Mahindra’s revised naming strategy. Styling updates include a new grille, reworked lighting elements and fresh alloy wheels, with design cues borrowed from the brand’s recent electric SUVs. Inside, Mahindra is expected to introduce a three-screen dashboard layout and offer multiple seating configurations.Powertrain options are likely to carry over, with the familiar 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines paired with manual and automatic transmissions. AWD is expected to remain available on select variants.

Skoda Kushaq facelift

Skoda’s midcycle update for the Kushaq is scheduled for mid-January. The facelift brings revised bumpers, a redesigned grille and sleeker LED taillights. Inside, buyers can expect feature upgrades such as a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS. Prices are expected to remain competitive within the compact SUV segment.

New Renault Duster

The all-new Renault Duster returns on January 26, marking a new chapter for the brand in India. The new generation Duster has been completely redesigned and is inspired by the Bigster concept and looks much more robust than before. It features Y-shaped LED lighting, muscular body cladding, square wheel arches and high ground clearance. The interior is also new, with a robust dashboard, digital displays, wireless connectivity, ventilated seats and advanced driver assistance systems. While global models will get hybrid and 4×4 options, the India-spec version is expected to arrive with a turbocharged petrol engine.

Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara

Maruti Suzuki’s first all-electric mid-size SUV, the e-Vitara, will debut in January. Based on the new Heartect-e platform, it has a powerful design inspired by the eVX concept. Inside, it gets dual floating screens, a modern center console and Level 2 ADAS.

The e-Vitara is offered with two LFP battery packs – 49 kWh and 61 kWh – with the larger unit delivering a range of up to 500 km.

Nissan Gravite

Nissan enters the sub-four meter MPV space with the Gravite, a seven-seater based on the Triber platform. It will offer a practical 2+3+2 layout, an 8-inch touchscreen, multiple safety features and competitive pricing, aimed at family buyers.

Toyota Urban Cruiser EV

Toyota’s electric SUV, closely related to the Maruti e-Vitara, is expected to be unveiled in January and go on sale in March. It will feature two battery options, long range, connected technology and Level 2 ADAS, positioning it as a premium electric offering.

Tata Punch facelift

The Tata Punch facelift brings updated styling, improved interiors and a larger touchscreen. While the petrol engine is expected to remain unchanged, the EV version may get a range boost. Safety will remain a major concern as six airbags are expected as standard.

2026MG Hector Diesel

MG has already unveiled the updated Hector, with diesel prices scheduled for January. The update includes subtle exterior tweaks, new color options and a refreshed cabin with an upgraded 14-inch touchscreen, gesture controls and improved connected features. The mechanical options remain unchanged, including the Fiat diesel engine.
