Two (former) Orioles branches will exchange in 2026. The Aberdeen Ironbirds of the South Atlantic League will go to the MLB Draft League, and the Frederick Keys will move the opposite side.

The movements were recently announced by both clubs. Reach Sport Partners is the owner of both clubs.

In 2020, when 42 MILB clubs were cut in a covenant movement by the greedy MLB owners, the Aberdeen Ironbirds were moved from the New York-Penn League to the South Atlantic League. The Fredrick tests were one of the teams that were cut from affiliated baseball when they were part of the MLB Draft League, a competition invented by MLB owners, so that they could keep an eye on talented players without paying for it.

In 2022, Sports Partners added another club to his arsenal. The owner group founded a new team in the “Independent” Atlantic League: The Spire City Ghost Hounds. The inaugural season of the team was 2023. It shared the Ballpark with the Frederick tests, which was fairly simple because the MLB Draft League is a short seasonal circuit. The Ghost Hounds went on a hiatus in 2024 and 2025 when the Atlantic League had an odd number of teams.

With the keys that move to a connected ball, one may wonder what will happen to the Ghost Hounds. Is it possible that both clubs have suitable schemes? We all know that of course grass sometimes needs some rest. When it is constantly used, the grass of Harry Grove Stadium can be ruined. Artificial grass would be a solution.

But don’t be surprised when reaching sports partners the Ghost Hounds from the Atlantic League pulls or the team moves elsewhere.
