Francis Ngannou “was so confused” by Jake Paul’s fight offer: “Don’t respect me like that” | BJPenn.com

Francis Ngannou recently addressed some recent reports focusing on a potential fight with Jake Paul in less than two weeks.

Gervonta Davis was initially set to fight Paul and while he hasn’t formally come out, Tank Davis may not make it to the ring for the scheduled November 14 fight after a recent round of domestic violence allegations emerged involving Davis. Some loose reports about possible replacements for Davis have mentioned former Paul foe Nate Diaz, Terence Crawford, Ryan Garcia and Ngannou himself.

During an interview with TMZ Sportsthe lineal MMA heavyweight champion was asked if there was any possibility he could take over from Tank Davis to fight Jake Paul on a Netflix card in less than two weeks, Ngannou said:

“No, nothing like that happens. Basically, how can they go from Gervonta Davis to Francis Ngannou? Like I mean, Gervonta Davis is a fantastic boxer and he’s a one-shot knockout artist, but come on. Like the weight difference and all that, it makes no sense. Gervonta Davis, you count; you say okay, the size difference can level off, but at this point it makes no sense to me.”

Francis Ngannou was also asked if Jake PaulNgannou’s team formally contacted him this month about an opportunity to collide with ‘The Problem Child,’ Ngannou stated:

“Yes, Nikisa [Bidarian] Recently I reached out and told me how they need the replacement for Gervonta. After listening, I didn’t get it, and then I say, okay, what can I do for you? What exactly? He said: yes, we are looking for a replacement, but I still don’t have one.”

“I thought: okay, what exactly can I do for you [laughs]? He said: yes, that is also possible; like we’re thinking of you to fight Jake. I’m like what? He said we’re thinking of you to fight Jake to replace Gervonta, and I’m like Jake [laughs]?”

“I was so confused. I didn’t expect that at all. He said yeah, Jake Paul, he’s fighting and I say no, man, come on, don’t do it. I mean, don’t disrespect me like that. Then they say, even come out and say what if the song had been good. He sent a song. I feel like it’s not about the song. If it was about the song, I would have told you I’m just not interested. It doesn’t make any sense to me.” It’s not what I’m looking at right now.”
