FPL notes: “Great” Rayan + Summerville scores again

4 minutes, 24 seconds Read

The Gameweek 25 Scout Notes continue with Bournemouth 1-1 Aston Villa And Burnley 0-2 West Ham United.

RAYAN SCORET AT THE FIRST START

Ryan (£5.5m) scored on his first start for Bournemouth on Saturday.

With a fully deserved point, the Brazilian, who impressed as a substitute with an assist at Wolverhampton Wanderers last week, looked a real threat.

Rayan was unlucky in the first half when his header hit the crossbar, but later found the net with an impressive solo effort after a shaky Villa defense.

“He is a great player. He can go in and out when there is space, and he can play one-on-one against the defender and that is very difficult for the defender. He has finished very well. He is still a young player who still needs to improve some things.” – Andoni Iraola about Rayan

Away from Rayan, just an inspired showing of Emiliano Martinez (£5.0m), who scored seven saves and should collect an additional bonus point in the next update, denied Bournemouth the three points.

On another day, Eli Kroupi Jr (£4.7) could have scored: a goal was disallowed for offside, and another cleared off the line, before retiring as usual shortly after the hour.

ANOTHER HILL SEVEN-POINT

James Hill (£3.9m), meanwhile, continued his good form as a centre-back.

He provided the assist for Rayan’s equalizer (which, to be fair, was a simple pass to the Brazilian) and collected defensive contribution points (DefCon).

Mark Senesi (£4.8m) is obviously the Premier League’s top defender but missed Saturday (six), while Hill has now produced DefCon in six of his seven games since his recall to the squad.

He was also unlucky not to claim any DefCon points in Gameweek 22; Opta updated its total to 10 after the FPL cut-off.

Considering Bournemouth’s upcoming fixtures, Hill is clearly one of the standout players under £4.0m in the FPL at the moment.

“FANTASTIC” ROGERS

Morgan Rogers (£7.6m) scored the opener at the Vitaly Stadium with a beautifully driven effort into the roof of the net after being slotted in by Jadon Sancho (£5.8 million).

He claimed the maximum bonus for a points tally of 10 points and narrowly missed DefCon by 11.

“Fantastic. He’s having a fantastic season. He was always pushing and helping. Everyone felt good playing with him.” – Unai Emery on Morgan Rogers

But just 0.79 expected goals (xG) for Villa underlines their recent lack of attacking threat.

Unai Emery’s men have scored just three times in their last five games and created just nine ‘big chances’ for Opta in that period.

£4.2m KEEPER STARTS

Nuno Espirito Santo made three changes to his starting XI for Saturday’s trip to Burnley.

Mads Hermansen (£4.2 million) took the place of Alfonso Areola (£4.3m) in goal, Axel Disasi (£4.5m) made his debut as a centre-back, while the third substitute arrived in attack Callum Wilson (£5.8m) replaced Pablo Felipe (£5.5 million).

On the field it looked like this:

Hermansen and Disasi provided some solidity at the back, albeit only against Burnley, helping West Ham score their first clean sheet since Gameweek 3.

£4.2m shot-stopper Hermansen was in goal for both.

Elsewhere at the back, El Hadji Malick Diouf (£4.0m) provided an assist in the first half, while fellow defenders Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£4.1 million) and Konstantinos Mavropanos (£4.4m) both at DefCon.

SUMMERVILLE SCORES AGAIN, FERNANDES IMPRESSES

Crysencio Summerville (£5.5m) scored for the fifth consecutive game in all competitions on Saturday.

The in-form winger bounced the ball over Burnley’s Martin Dubravka (£4.0m) early in the first half, before that Taty Castellanos (£5.5m) doubled West Ham’s lead shortly afterwards.

Summerville will likely lose its DefCon points in the next update, after dropping to 11 overnight (see image below). But even taking that into account, he’s still racked up 36 points in the last four gameweeks, the second-highest total of any player.

Matthew Fernandes (£5.5m) was also fantastic at Turf Moor.

The midfield controller provided the assist for the opener, his third attacking return in four Gameweeks, and benched DefCon, with his on-field relationship with Summerville clearly going from strength to strength.

‘I know how dangerous we can be on the counter-attack, me and Matty [Fernandes] clicking a lot now. He knows how to feed me, and that worked well today.” – Crysencio Summerville

As for Jarrod Bowen (£7.7m) it was a disappointing afternoon, with just one shot and zero chances created. But with others pushing their lead, the Hammers have now won three of their last four games, keeping the relegation battle alive.

In contrast, the situation is much less favorable for Burnley as they look as vulnerable as ever ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Selhurst Park.

Zian Fleming (£5.3m) came as close as any teammate to scoring with seven shots, but Burnley have now failed to win in 16 consecutive Premier League games.

Axel Tuanzebe (£3.9m) was missed due to injury for the hosts James Ward-Prowse (£5.6 million) did not qualify for his parent club.
