Extra 4* tournaments for our young players on their way to the Nationals – Table Tennis England

The best young players in the country have an extra cadet and junior 4* tournament this season where they can earn points to qualify for the Mark Bates LTD National Championships for their age group.

Again, the 4* tournaments throughout the country offer a route to the Cadet and Junior Nationals, with leaderboards published after each to show who is in the race to qualify.

The Cadet cohort will have five 4* events to compete their nationals in March, from four last season, while the juniors are on their way to their nationals in May -also on 2024/25. Athletes must compete in the last two if they have to meet the suitability requirements for the Nationals.

Submissions are already open and quickly fill up for three, including the brand new London Academy 4*.

The 4* events that take place this season are:

September 27-28: Cleveland 4* (Deadline: Tuesday 26 August) Click to enter

December 6-7: Cambridge 4* (Deadline: Friday, October 31) Click to enter

January 3-4: Chandlers 4*

February 14-15: Plymouth 4*

The Plymouth 4* is not part of the CADET qualification process, due to the timings of invitations for the Mark Bates Ltd Cadet & Under-17 Nationals of 7-8 March. Invitations will be based on the ranking of January (published on January 14, 2026).

Invitations for the Mark Bates LTD Junior & Under-21 National Championships on 16-17 May will be based on the ranking of March (published on March 11, 2026).

Invitations are issued on the following basis:

1. All guests for Cadet National Championships and Junior National Championships 2026 have to develop animals two Indicated 4* events, notwithstanding mitigating circumstances

2. Invitations are issued on eligible players in priority order (for each category):

  • 20 From the ranking, note point 1 above. These places will reject extra qualifying competitions as standard if refusing
  • 2 Yoker signs. These places will be extra qualifications as standard if we are rejected or places are not full
  • 10 qualification of 4* events:

3. All Cadet and Junior 4* winners of all boys and girls receive an automatic invitation if they meet the 2 × 4* input requirement

4. Then qualifications will be determined by the rankings; There are no points (except those for entering) available for comfort events

  • Enter: 1 point
  • Head QF: +1 point (2 total)
  • Head SF: +1 point (3 in total)
  • Head r/Up: +1 point (4 in total)
  • Main winner: +2 points (5 in total; automatic qualification)

Keep in mind that suitability, qualifying invitations and leaderboard for the Cadet National Championships will include Chandlers 4*, but the results of events will only be reflected in the national rankings in February.
