England has called a nine-strict team while their men’s and DameS teams are preparing to compete with the best teams of the continent at the European Championships in October.
The men’s team contains Liam Pitchford, Tom Jarvis, Sam Waker, Paul Drinkhall and Connor Green – the first four are not strangers for this competition, but it will be a first team for Green, who made his championship debut at the individual event last year.
The women’s team is led by Tin-Tin Ho, with Tianer Yu, Jasmin Wong and Ella Pashley also in service.
It is the same quartet that performed so well during the qualification tournament in January, when England booked their place with a 100%record.
HO naturally has extensive championship experience, while Wong made her big debut with Europeans two years ago.
The draw for the event has already been made, in which the men as a result of fourth seeds Portugal and Greece in group D and the women against hosts and seventh seeds Croatia and Italy in group G.
The competition is in Zadar, Croatia, from 12-19 October and the team is supported by director of performance development Gavin Evans, John Murphy and Carlo Agnello of the coaching team and Physio Justin Lucas-Hill.
Evans said: “Good luck with the team that is on its way to Croatia for the European Championships.
There is a good mix of youth and experience in both men’s and women’s teams.
“There is a real heavy group for both teams, and we will give everything and fight for each point.
“The teams have prepared themselves hard. We have a great preparation camp in Sheffield in our Elite Training Center and we will do everything we can to come back with great versions under our belt.”
