Edward Ly and Mo Zhang biggest winners on Canadian Senior Championships

Richmond’s Olympic Oval in British Columbia was hosted for the 2025 Canadian senior table tennis championships. The most important national event in Canada had top athletes from eight provinces and one territory with a full series of singles and double competitions in open and age -specific categories. The tournament was organized by Table Tennis Canada in collaboration with the British Columbia Table Tennis Association.

The title of Messrs Singles went to Edward Ly in a fight between the 22-year-old young star of Canada and the 39-year-old veteran Eugene Wang. Wang entered the event when the best seed and dominated his half of the draw with 3-0 won his matches in all three. Edward Ly did the same in the bottom half of the draw and with relatively convenience won three straight ahead to reach the final. But it was Edward Ly that came out at the top of the final. The semi -finalists were Simeon Martin and Zexuan Wang (with Edward who defeated Martin, and Eugene Wang defeated Zexuan Wang).

In Singles for women, the script was reversed with the 36-year-old veteran Mo Zhang who won the rising teenage star Sunny Zhang. Mo Zhang has long been the best female player in Canada, and this year was no exception. She did not lose a match in the event, won 3-0 every round and eventually won the last 3-0. Sunny Zhang disrupted the second seed, Kathering Morin, in a five-game thriller in the semi-final. The other semi -finalist was Natalie Chan.

In Heren Dubbel, Edward Ly worked with Kenny Ly to take the title. Mo Zhang repeated the same performance in women’s doubles and worked with Cindy Wang to claim her second title. And in mixed Doubles it was a few finishers of third place in the singles events that worked together – such as Simeon Martin and Katherine Morin claimed the title.
