Kennet Vale Table Tennis Club near Marlborough is celebrating an excellent growthaar, with membership now more than 100 players led by Richard Ramsden. The inclusive attitudes and the hospitable atmosphere of the club have built up a thriving table tennis community, which achieves remarkable success in recruiting women in both the club and the competition.
Strong ties with local schools have also fueled an increase in junior participation, with more young players than ever picking up a bat. This new generation of talent helps to secure the future of the club and to stimulate the local table tennis scene. To support this, Kennet Vale has trained new coaches – including a young leader – ensured that players of all ages and skills receive quality guidance. The club has also been extended to extra facilities and is actively looking for new solutions for further growth.
The growth of Kennet Vale Table Tennis Club is a tribute to Richard Ramsden, local volunteers and the cooperation in the table tennis community in the area. Kennet Vale is a rural location that makes the success all the more impressive, because many local barriers have been tackled by creative problem solving.

That spirit spreads across the region. The Devizes League jumped from 24 to 30 teams for the 2025/26 season – one 25% increase – making it the largest competition that the area has seen in decades. With now confirmed entries, the competition will each contain three divisions of ten teams each.
The plan is to recruit further teams in the competition in 2026. If 1 more team enters the competition, it will consider performing 4 divisions. This would be the first time since 1983 (43 years)!
