IMD has spent red alert for six districts, indicating extremely heavy rainfall (more than 204.5 mm in 24 hours). These districts include Raigad, Ratnagiri, Gondia, Chandapur, Bhandara and Gadchiroli.
Schools close
In the midst of heavy rainfall, the district administration of Palghar schools, colleges and Anganwadi centers closed on July 26, 2025 (Saturday), confirms district collector Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar. Ghat region under High Alert

Mumbai -Rains influence traffic
Mumbai experiences heavy rainfall and causes traffic congestion in the city. Railway lines and suburbs trains are also affected. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the city registered the following average rainfall figures until Friday morning:
- Island City: 29.40 mm
- Eastern suburbs: 29.44 mm
- Western suburbs: 18.88 mm
IMD has also warned fishermen in the midst of rising sea level due to heavy rainfall. Coastal areas such as Konkan Belt are probably witnesses of strong wind and flood. The government of Maharashtra is also on a high alert, especially NDRF in flood -sensitive zones.
