The Toffees are missing Seamus Coleman, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Charly Alcaraz and Jarrad Branthwaite through injury, while Idrissa Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye are both absent from the Africa Cup of Nations.
Midfielder Harrison Armstrong was recalled from his loan at Preston North End last week to help make up the numbers.
David Moyes makes Everton transfer admission amid injury problems
Moyes has not ruled out the possibility of new signings this month, although he stressed that Everton will only make gradual improvements rather than making expensive moves.
“That’s probably more unlikely than likely, but I wouldn’t say that completely looking out to see what’s here,” the Scot said ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Wolves at Hill-Dickinson Stadium.
“Overall we’ve dealt with it pretty well. I have a feeling we might have to deal with it again.
“We have a small squad, we knew that in the beginning, and the guys leaving for AFCON make it look (worse), but that applies to many clubs.
“But if your selection is relatively tight it starts to have an effect and before you know it you’re looking like you’re quite worn out.
“I think our ownership wants us to be clean and tidy. If we don’t get anyone in, we’ll stick to the plan and continue building.
“We’ve had quite a build-up over the summer, which has taken us a step up. I think the leaps in improvement will be more gradual, rather than really big issues.”
