Matheus Cunha opened the scoring for Manchester United in our 4-2 win over Brighton tonight. After a string of poor results against the southern team we showed up today and got a well deserved three points.
But it was Cunha’s excellent finishing that put us on the right track and he discussed what it meant to him in an interview with BBC for MOTD.
It’s hard to say anything now. I worked so hard for this. This is the club and this performance must be normal and normal. I’m so excited to be a part of this. My first goal here at Old Trafford, I have dreamed of this a lot, but of course the win is much more important.
I joked with Bryan [Mbeumo] And [Benjamin] Sesko, I told them I had to have this feeling, I felt so eager to be part of this and when I scored they said ‘look, you can enjoy it now.’ Supporting my teammates all day long, I feel so good to be a part of this.
I haven’t scored in a long time. The players were joking with me in the locker room and saying, ‘Oh, so you can score!’
Cunha was asked if he had a message for the fan base. His answer was perfect.
I am one of them. This is the club where I grew up and being here is a mix of sensations. To help them is my dream come true.
