Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez has been the club’s leading goalscorer this season and although he has had some poor games, including the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Arsenal, his position is not in danger for now.
However, that situation could change in the summer, as… The Blues have been planning to sign a goalkeeper to compete with the Spaniard and possibly acquire him as first choice since last year, when they were keen on Mike Maignan.

El Nacional reported this that Chelsea are now considering a move for Real Madrid’s Andriy Lunin, who spent much of his career with the La Liga giants playing second fiddle to Keylor Navas and then Thibaut Courtois but remains a world-class player.
His best season for the Whites came in 2023/24, when he replaced Courtois when he suffered an ACL injury. Lunin’s performances were crucial in helping Madrid double the Champions League and La Liga titles that year.
He is believed to already have a deal with the Blues, according to El Nacional’s report, so it could just be a matter for Chelsea to convince Real Madrid to part ways with a crucial secondary option in the summer.
Lunin’s future remains open
Andriy Lunin’s future remains open, heading into another summer. It is not the first time he has been linked with outgoing Real Madrid, but in the past he has always expressed his happiness by playing sporadically for the La Liga giants.
Once again he was able to think about his future, while keeping the door open to a stay in Madrid. Therefore, Chelsea will have to pay good money to secure Lunin’s services, possibly much more than his Valuation of £13 million on Transfermarktand offer a good salary.
Having made just three appearances in all competitions this season, it may seem like the right time for the 26-year-old to think about his future in the summer as he enters the prime years of his career and Chelsea will look to take advantage of that.
